Who will Beckham swap shirts with tonight?

Wednesday 10th March 2010

Man Utd play AC Milan in the 2nd Leg of their Champions League tie tonight – a game that sees David Beckham make his first return to Old Trafford as a player since he left United in 2003...

Beckham's arrival in Manchester this week has prompted the bookies to price up all manner of Specials bets on him. Here's the kind of thing on offer – at Blue Square you can bet on:

Beckham to score at 6/1

Beckham to be Man of the Match at 12/1

Beckham to score from outside the box at 18/1

Beckham to be sent off at 33/1

At Stan James, Beckham is 12/1 to score a free kick...

And so on! But the most interesting 'Special' looks to be the one on offer at Paddy Power…

In the 1st Leg in Italy last month - AC Milan 2 Man Utd 3 – bookies had markets up on 'Who will Beckham swap shirts with?'

Boylesports paid out on Beckham's old Man Utd pal Gary Neville at 6/1 and Blue Square paid out at 12/1.

Here's the Paddy Power market for tonight's game.

Schumacher 5/1 to make a winning return to F1...

Tuesday 9th March 2010

The 2010 Formula 1 season starts this weekend with the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday...

There's no doubt which driver is stealing the headlines – former World Champion and all-round F1 racing legend Michael Schumacher has come out of retirement, and will be behind the wheel for the Mercedes team.

Schuey's return has got the bookies in a spin – with dozens of Specials bets on offer for him. Including:

Skybet and Coral make Schumacher 66/1 to get a 'Podium Finish' in every race...

Boylesports make Michael an Even-money chance to record 'Over 2.5' race wins, 5/6 to record 'Over 2.5' pole positions and 15/8 to finish ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the Drivers' Championship...

At Coral he's 6/1 to win his 'home' Grand Prix in Germany. While Skybet go 3/1 that Schuey won't win any races in the 2010 season.

Schumacher is around 5/1 to win the 2010 Drivers' Championship – and break his own record by becoming World Champion for what would be the 8th time. He's also around 5/1 to win the opening race of the season this weekend...

Not a good Oscars night for the bookies

Monday 8th March 2010

The bookies took a hammering on the Oscars last night with all 6 of the major categories being won by the odds-on favourites. William Hill reported that it was their worst Oscar night ever!

The closest category according to the bookies was Best Picture with the Hurt Locker (4/6) and Avatar (11/10) battling it out. The Hurt Locker came out on top in that one. Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow also picked up the Best Director award – she was odds-on at 1/5 for that one.

Elsewhere Jeff Bridges won Best Actor and Sandra Bullock won Best Actress. Christoph Waltz and Mo'Nique won Oscars for their supporting roles.
