Brett Favre to play in his 20th NFL season

Friday 20th August 2010

Record breaking Quarter Back Brett Favre will be playing in American Football's NFL for at least one more season after agreeing a one-year deal to stay at the Minnesota Vikings.

The new NFL season gets underway on the 9th September when Favre takes his Vikings side to the home of the reigning Super Bowl champs the New Orleans Saints. This season's Super Bowl will be held at Cowboys Stadium in Texas on the 6th February 2011.

Favre, who holds the NFL record for most career passing yards, is a 25/1-shot to complete the most passing yards in the new NFL regular season. Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts Quarter Back Peyton Manning are the 5/1 joint favourites to come out on top in that market.

The Vikings made it through to the NFC Championship game last time out and were defeated by eventual Super Bowl winners the New Orleans Saints – they are 13/2 to land the NFC title this season. They are 6/5 second favourites to win the NFC North behind Favre's old side the Green Bay Packers (11/10).

Last season's Super Bowl runners-up the Indianapolis Colts are the current bookies' 8/1 favourites to win this season's Super Bowl, with reigning champs the New Orleans Saints at 9/1. Brett Favre's Vikings are 14/1.
