McCoy now the favourite for BBC award

Tuesday 22nd June 2010

Champion Jockey Tony McCoy is now the 9/2 favourite to win this year's BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.

McCoy, who won his first ever Grand National in April, has overtaken Wayne Rooney in eyes of the bookies after Rooney's poor showing so far at the World Cup. Rooney was the 5/2 favourite before the tournament started but is now out to 6/1.

Andy Murray is also 6/1 - he starts his quest for Wimbledon glory later this afternoon. Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell is available at 7/1 after he won his first ever golfing major at the US Open on Sunday night.

Lewis Hamilton who currently leads the Formula 1 driver's championship is 10/1 with his McClaren team-mate Jenson Button at 20/1
