Thursday 15th July 2010
Northern Ireland's Rory Mcllroy has been cut from 9/1 to 4/1 to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award after his impressive performance on the opening day of the Open Championship at St Andrews.
Mcllroy went round the famous old course in just 63 shots leaving him on 9 under par for the tournament – sitting on top of the leader board.
Mcllroy has been cut from 17/1 to 3/1 to win 'Claret Jug' on Sunday afternoon.
Pre-tournament favourite Tiger Woods is on 5 under after his opening round, 4 shots behind the leader Mcllroy.
Odds on 1995 champion John Daly have been slashed from 200/1 to 20/1 by some firms after he finished his opening round on 6 under par.
