Shock results in the Far East!

It's been a day of shocks in the tennis – with no fewer than 4 big name players being dumped out in events in Japan and China in the past 24 hours…

On the women's tour Dinara Safina and Serena Williams – who've both been World No.1 during their careers – were both beaten by lower ranked players.

And overnight in China this year's beaten Wimbledon Men's finalist Andy Roddick lost to Polish underdog Lukasz Kubot.

Perhaps the biggest shock of all was in Tokyo, though – where newly crowned US Open champion and current World No.5 Juan Martin del Potro was beaten in straight sets, 2-0, by a player ranked 184 places below him in the ATP world rankings. It was French Qualifier Edouard Roger-Vasselin's first ever win over a Top 10 player. He was an 8/1 shot with Ladbrokes before the match.
