Zola sacked by West Ham

Tuesday 11th May

Gianfranco Zola has been sacked as West Ham manager after less than two years in charge. He took over the reigns from Alan Curbishley in September 2008 and guided them to 9th place in the Premier League.

However it's been a different story this season - West Ham finished 17th in the league, just 5 points off the relegation zone. Zola also had an uneasy relationship with the clubs new owners David Sullivan and David Gold.

Current Portsmouth manager Aram Grant is odds-on with the bookies to take over at Upton Park. He's followed in the betting by former West Ham player and current Croatia coach Slavian Bilic
